Detroit, MI - With only two conference matches remaining before the WHAC playoffs, the volleyball team took a step in the right direction defeating Marygrove College 3-1 Tuesday night in Detroit. After winning the first set 25-20, the Wolves lost the second set 25-19. The remaining two sets would be close, both 25-21, but they both went Michigan-Dearborn's way as the Wolves won their third conference match of the season.
Freshman Ashley Parks and junior Nia Martin led the way for the Wolves with Parks having 12 kills and Martin adding 11 kills. Defensively Michigan-Dearborn was solid all the way around. Junior libero Brittany Yanos had 17 digs while while senior Tiffany Brufladt and sophomore Molly Hilsabeck each had 12 digs. Parks added 11 digs. Junior Emily Tjapkes got the majority of the playing time at setter and took advantage of it by having 36 assists.
The volleyball team will finish the conference regular season Friday night, November 2nd at 7:00pm in Grand Rapids against the Aquinas College Saints.
