Dearborn, MI - The volleyball team came out strong Wednesday night as they looked to end their three game conference losing streak. Michigan-Dearborn (14-12, 2-6) defeated the Concordia University Cardinals (15-21, 0-8) in straight sets 25-22, 25-10, 25-21. The Wolves came out hitting strong with16 kills in the opening set. Concordia would not go quietly as the two teams traded blows throughout the first set. In the end, Michigan-Dearborn would come out on top 25-22. They carried that momentum into the second where 12 attacking errors by the Cardinals led to the 25-10 win for the Wolves. In the third set, the Wolves would again come out swinging as they had 18 kills. With the score 24-21, senior Tiffany Brufladt drove the ball into the open court for her 11th kill of the match. Junior Sabrina Garmo led the Wolves with 13 kills. Junior libero had 20 digs in the victory. The volleyball team will next head to Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana and participate in the Crimson Wave Invite.
Wednesday night's game was also Faculty Appreciation Night. The seniors on the volleyball team, Tiffany Brufladt and Camille Harris, honored a faculty member that made the most impact on them during their years at Michigan-Dearborn. Brufladt honored Gerald Holowicki from the School of Management while Harris honored John Thomas of Natural Sciences. Congratulations and thank you to them for their support!
