Clearwater, FL - The volleyball team went to Clearwater, Florida over the weekend and started off on a bad note dropping matches against Point Park and Clearwater Christian. Not only did the Wolves drop the matches, but they got swept in both matches. Saturday was a new day though, and luckily for the volleyball team a fresh start. In their first match of the day the Wolves took on the Northwood University (Florida) Seahawks. The teams traded wins in the first two sets before Michigan-Dearborn took the last two sets 25-17 and 25-12. Senior captain Tiffany Brufladt led the Wolves with 10 kills in the match while junior Brittany Yanos had 12 digs and 8 service aces.
In the second match, the Wolves swept Florida Memorial 25-16, 25-9, and 25-22. Freshman Ashley Parks led the way with 12 kills while junior Nia Martin added 11 kills. The setting tandem of Emily Tjapkes and Brittany Bejma tallied 28 assists, 14 for each player.
The volleyball team's overall record now stands at 13-9. They will next be in action on Wednesday October 10th at home against the Cornerstone Golden Eagles. The match begins at 7:00pm.
