Dearborn, MI - The Earlybird Volleyball Collegiate Challenge got underway at 1:00pm today with three matches.  Michigan-Dearborn lost to Lawrence Tech 3-0 (35-33, 25-16; 25-23) to begin the day.  Other 1:00pm finals included Cornerstone defeating Indiana University South Bend 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-13) and St. Francis (Illinois) defeating Lourdes 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-12). 

The 3:00pm matches have all concluded including a five set match between Georgtetown College and Madonna University.  Georgetown won the match 3-2 (25-20; 25-22; 20-25; 21-25; 15-13) after Madonna came back after dropping the first two sets.  In oither matches Daemen defeated Spring Arbor 3-0 (25-11; 25-17; 25-17); Indiana University East defeated Bethel 3-0 (26-24; 25-16; 25-21); Point Park knocked off Trinity International 3-0 (25-20; 25-16; 25-15) and Inidiana Tech swpet Trinity Christian 3-0 (25-22; 25-19; 25-16).  
 
Indiana University East remained flawless after its second match of the tournament as they swept Lourdes 25-17; 25-10; 25-12.  Point Park also won its second match of the tournament downing Cornerstone 3-1 (18-25; 25-20; 25-22; 25-23).  Other results included Shawnee State defeating Lawrence Tech 3-0 (25-22; 25-23; 25-20); Trinity Christian beating Bethel 3-1 (25-18; 28-26; 19-25; 25-18) and Northwestern Ohio defeating  Indiana South Bend 3-0 (25-13; 25-18; 25-17).  
 
Day one is complete with the host school Michigan-Deasrborn winning an exciting five set match downing Spring Arbor University.  Also winning, were Shawnee State, Madonna, Northwestern Ohio, and St. Francis.  Shawnee State and St. Francis join Indiana East as the only teams to not drop a set.  Northwestern Ohio and Point Park have won both of their matches and dropped just one set in that time. 
 
Matches begin at 8:30am on Saturday with all five courts being played.  Other tournament times are 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm.
