Grand Rapids, MI - The men's and women' s cross country teams got a good look at the course that they will be running at the WHAC Tournament on November 5th. The teams competed in the Great Lakes Invitational on Saturday at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. Both teams finished in 28th place, but the story was the fact that many Michigan-Dearborn runners posted personal best times in the race. On the women's side, junior Joan Stoian led the way finishing in 57th place with a time of 19:34. Stoian is pushing for an individual spot at the NAIA Championships in Vancouver, WA. Sophomore Amanda Van Dongen was the second member of the Wolves to cross the finish line. She posted a personal best 22:23 in the 5k event. Right behind Amanda, were freshman Alyse Madej and junior Erika Antanovich. All three of those runners finished within 30 seconds of each other. Freshman Mollie Kurasik knocked off 30 seconds of her personal best time by posting a time of 26:40.
On the men's side, freshman Matt Neumann set a school and personal record with his time of 27:26 in the 8k event. Sophomore Will Miller also had a personal best time of 29:21. Freshman Quinn Osgood finished just behind Will and then freshman Ryan Keeling set a personal best time with 30:05. Sophomore Mark Waterbury rounded out the Wolves' runners at 31:52.
The teams will take a week off before heading back to Riverside Park for the WHAC Championships on Saturday November 5th.
